Complete Kitchen Remodel & Addition

  • Great care was taken to exactly match the architectural details that make this home so unique
  • All the windows on the first floor are non working doors with operable transoms above
  • Each of these windows had sun baffles surrounding them on the exterior
  • The exposed footings were constructed with uncrushed pea gravel that was power washed immediately after removing the forms to expose the pea gravel and create a unique texture
  • The structural base plate connected to the footings in a unique way to create a hidden foundation venting system. The footing hold downs stuck up far enough to allow for 3 rather than one bottom plate. The new, custom made, bottom plate system was comprised of two sculpted 2 x 6 plates separated by 2 x 4 blocking on regular intervals with screen between the blocking to match the original construction exactly creating continuous venting around the perimeter of the home
  • The original kitchen was a very dark and small interior kitchen with no windows, separated from the rear of the home by a laundry room
  • The wall with doorway between the original kitchen and laundry room was removed to allow more light and open space into this corridor kitchen
  • The laundry was moved to a large closet and hidden behind the sliding doors at the other end of the kitchen
  • The old laundry room wall was removed to allow access to the new breakfast room from the kitchen and rear entry to the home
  • A new desk area was added at this rear entry on the opposite wall from the old laundry
  • Light modern style cabinets with wood trim were used in the kitchen to capture the look and feel of this modern wood home
  • Recess florescent lighting with wood trim in the ceiling and under cabinet lighting
