Stratton Residence
Kitchen and Bath Remodel & Addition

1992 | La Jolla, CA

Kitchen Remodel & Addition

  • The second floor of this condo projected out 3 feet past the 1st floor in front of the old kitchen window
  • To make this tiny kitchen a more workable size for this client that 3 feet was added to the kitchen with an addition that simply put the new kitchen window wall under the upstairs outside wall
  • A small bay window was added in this new wall over the sink to add even more perceived depth to the room
  • That added depth made all the difference to make this a really functional and comfortable kitchen work space
  • A hanging rail was added on the counter back splash the length of the cook top wall for wire shelves, hanging cooking utensils, and spice bottles
  • Double sided glass door cabinets with glass shelves at the peninsula have lights inside to show of decorative items within and allow light to pass between the rooms
  • Wine rack and book shelves add to the warmth of this project
  • Halogen recessed ceiling lights over counters and florescent under cabinet lighting

Bath Remodel with Door Less Shower

  • Glass block are curved in at the entry to keep water from splashing out of the shower area over the entry dam
  • Glass block windows were also added in the shower over the seat and in the shower to allow in natural light
  • The curved glass block wall also allowed light to pass into the rest of the room from the glass block windows
  • A seat was added in the corner of the entry
