Arbon Residence - Major Kitchen Remodel and Addition

This major kitchen remodeling project used a nicely designed addition to add enough space to a kitchen to add a nice sized work island with moveable butcher block and a large bay window area projection for a breakfast area to this home. Great communication and coordination with the homeowner enabled us to create a truly custom room that was a perfect fit for all their families functional and aesthetic needs. Attention to architectural details insured that this kitchen remodel looked like it was a well designed part of the original home, both inside and out

- Added 22' x 4' to 7' addition to the first floor to enlarge kitchen and create breakfast area in bay window projection of the addition
- The wall removed was a major bearing wall for the second story. It was removed in such a way that all structural beams supporting the load of the second floor are completely hidden above the ceiling making this addition appear to be a part of the original structure, rather than having a huge tell tale exposed beam.
- Additions roof pitch and roof material match existing
- Moved sink plumbing to new location
- Florescent lighting with wood trim to match the cabinets was recessed in the ceiling and zoned on separate switches
- Look at the photo of the addition slab and framing. You will see a whole in the new slab. This was not a mistake, it was the location of the old sink plumbing that we left functioning and intact while we got as much work done outside the home as possible before we tore out the existing kitchen. Only after the new slab was poured and much of addition walls were built did we tear out the existing kitchen. This whole was patched after the new plumbing lines were connected under ground thru this access whole

- Kitchen Remodeling Details:
- Cabinets Manufactured by Danilo Nesovic
- Cabinet finish - almond laminate with post formed (curved) edges and wood handles and trim
- The island cabinetry was built with a niche the size of a store bought moveable butcher block. That allowed the butcher block to be stored in the niche and appear as an integral part of the island, but also be moved to any location needed by the homeowner during food her prep
- This client was so meticulous that they had pre-measured all the items to be stored in the pantry so we could place our standard adjustable shelve in exactly the right heights to maximize the use of the storage space
- A very large amount of pantry area was used in this kitchen to offset the lack of a lot of wall cabinet storage, due to all the window space on the addition wall to maximize the view of the pool and back yard
- As you have seen in a few other of our projects of this era a Chambers gas cook top and thermador hood with drop down warming trays was used. These were the best available at that time.
- A top of the line Thermador Oven/ Micro combination wall unit was also used
- Ceramic Tile Counter Tops and Full Back splash
